In September, Audi Will Accept Reservations for the All-New e-tron

In sunny San Francisco, in the middle of September, the world will get its first real, uninhibited, un-camouflaged view of the all-new Audi e-tron electric crossover--Audi's first-ever electric vehicle, and one of the few all-wheel drive EVs available on the market.

This stunning new SUV will compete directly with options like the Jaguar I-PACE and the Tesla Model X, and indirectly with more economical options like the Nissan LEAF, the BMW i3, the Chevy Volt, and the Prius family.

We think we can all agree, though, if the choice came down to a LEAF or an Audi--wouldn't you rather have an Audi?

What We Know About the Audi e-tron

Audi is keeping details about the Audi e-tron quite literally under wraps until its big reveal in San Francisco, however we do get a small peek at the interior in the video above. Its sleek, stylish, and premium interior looks familiar to those that you'd currently find in an Audi A8, S7, or even an Audi Q7.

The size appears to be close to the Audi Q5, but--due to an excess of space provided by the lack of a large, hot gas engine--it may have even more passenger and cargo volume than a Q5.

The new electric crossover will use a powertrain made up of a 95-kwh lithium-ion battery, two electric motors, and, if you count it, a smart new braking system that was designed to re-capture as much power as possible during slowing or braking to send that power right back to the battery. This can significantly extend the driving range of the Audi e-tron.

Audi e-tron Pre-Orders and Reservations

Audi will begin to take official reservations for the upcoming Audi e-tron EV sometime in mid-September when it is revealed in its production-ready form. (Official meaning the ability to put down a $1,000 deposit as well as your name.)
